The desired measurement range can be selected from one of 8 sizes (TG, also lower and higher with MGC and BG respectively) extending as a whole from 0.1 ltr/h to 18,000 ltr/h at a gas temperature ranging from -50 to +120 °Celsius. The robust casing of the standard meters is designed to withstand a maximum overpressure of 50 mbar (plastic casings) or 500 mbar (stainless steel casings); meters for higher pressure ranges up to 10 bars are available.

RITTER drum-type gas meters are universally applicable for measuring the volume of flowing gases and are particularly effective when measurements demand the highest precision.
The major advantage and the superiority of volumetric Gas Meters (like Drum-type Gas Meters) over other measurement principles, which determine gas volume using secondary measurable variables such as speed, heat capacity, hot-wire resistance or similar, is that the volume is directly measured. That means that the condition and the composition of the gas has no influence on the measurement accuracy.

Correcting factors which take into account gas type, temperature, humidity etc are therefore not necessary. It should be noted that with other, non-volumetric measurement processes, the measurement accuracy given for that process can only be achieved if the correcting factors for the immediate condition of the gas are exactly known.

The possibility of selecting the gas meter material from among 5 different excellent materials (polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), polyvinylide fluoride (PVDF), PE-el (polyethylene-electrically conductive) or 1.4571 (refined stainless steel) enables the user individually to meet measurement requirements even in case of highly aggressive gases.


For rugged, industrial applications, robust models with a stainless steel casing and plastic drum (three different materials) are available.

Chemical Injection with Viscous Fluids
The VFF meter is selected for chemical injection service. The fluids are dosed at relatively low flowrates and they are generally viscous in nature. The positive displacement principle of metering provides high accuracy for these difficult measurement conditions. Alternatively, for higher flowrates a precision, positive displacement Helical Screw Flowmeter is used. Typical applications are: Scale inhibitor, Corrosion inhibitor, De- emulsifier, O 2 (Oxygen) Scavenger and Wax inhibitor.

VFF Rotary Meter
 
• Positive displacement principle offers measurement where turbine type meters will not operate. For example a scale inhibitor of 90 cSt viscosity with a flow range of as little as 0.1 l/hr. The meter maintains metering accuracy for the varying viscosity of such a fluid with temperature changes.
• Chemically resistant materials of construction.
• Standard designs from 50 bar to 2,068 bar 30,000 psi and higher pressure designs can be provided.

Helical Screw Flowmeter

Hydraulic Line Monitoring for Well Control Valves & Leak Detection
Flowrates for this application are generally low requiring a suitable capacity flowmeter. A small size VFF Rotary Meter is ideal for this requirement and its Positive Displacement measurement principle provides major advantages for low flow service. VFF and Helical Screw flowmeters have wide rangeability and measure very low flows, which meet the requirements for leak detection service.

Chemical Injection & General Metering of Low Viscosity Fluids
Pelton Wheel flowmeters offer exceptionally wide rangeability and low flow rate measurement for low viscosity fluids. Typical applications are methanol, biocide, ethyl-mercaptain and wash water. The LM Series measure low flows in six ranges. These are determined by internal 'jets' which can be interchanged in-situ. VFF Rotary and Helical Screw meters may also be used for low viscosity fluids for some applications.
